Responsible Development and Growth

Lakeville is currently home to nearly 66,000 residents and is one of the fastest-growing cities in the Twin Cities area.

  • Development should reflect the character and values of our city: safety throughout the community, a home for all ages and stages of life, and a sense of community and belonging through our traditions and institutions.
  • Future development should support community needs and balanced growth that maintain the healthy tax structure Lakeville currently enjoys, as growth revenues allow the city to maintain a consistent tax levy and a healthy financial reserve.
  • Citizens have told me they want: businesses that provide local jobs, small business opportunities, environmental sustainability, and balanced residential development. I agree with and support these priorities that will keep Lakeville strong.

As a member of the Lakeville City Council, I will work to promote community development that reflects the character and values of Lakeville and provides the housing and services our citizens’ values. In my municipal leadership role, I served on the planning and development site plan review committee and created a city housing accountability group. I also led a team of professionals who worked to keep a relational presence in the housing and business communities to help keep development in its intended condition. I understand first hand the impact of development on the people who live, work, and own businesses in the city
